The beautiful art and culture of Tibet is
depicted in this exhibition currently touring North America. A set
of seven note cards of the bronze statues from the exhibition features
images of great teachers and deities like Lama Tsongkhapa, Guru Padma
Sambhava, Maitreya, Avalokiteshvara, Vajrayogini,Yamantaka and Manjushri.
Another set of seven notecards features the seven classical watercolor
scroll paintings (thangkas) of The Sixteen Arhats, disciples of Buddha
who achieved enlightenment and took the vow to remain in the world
in their bodily forms until the coming of Maitreya Buddha.
A mandala symbolizes the natural harmony of
all things physical, emotional and spiritual. This elegant fine art
reproduction depicts a sand mandala created by the monks of Drepung
Loseling Monastery. Of the many different tantric mandalas, this belongs
to the Amitayus Tantra, or Cycle of Boundless Healing. As such it
